The Chapter Educational Fund (Fund) is organized to provide scholarships of varying amounts to accounting students who are enrolled in accredited accounting programs in colleges and universities, funds for student activity programs designed to promote careers in accounting, and student memberships in the Connecticut Chapter of the American Society of Women Accountants. Ongoing support from ASWA membership through various fundraising efforts has funded these programs in the past. The Fund has been designated a 501(c) (3) charitable organization by the Internal Revenue Service, and is administered by three Trustees who are members of the Chapter. Trustees are appointed by the Chapter President with the approval of the Chapter Board of Directors for a rotating three year term. Activities of the Fund are governed by established Rules and Regulations approved by the Chapter Board of Directors. To encourage donations to the Educational Fund and to ensure that the Educational Fund can continue awarding scholarships to deserving students, the Trustees are initiating a LIFE MEMBERSHIP program effective July 1, 2006. LIFE MEMBERSHIP provides contributors to the Educational Fund another opportunity to show their support of the Fund. Life members will be permanently recognized, every month after becoming a life member, in the Fundraising Section of the Connecticut Ledger, the Chapter’s monthly newsletter. Members’ families, friends, co-workers, colleagues, and employers are also encouraged to become life members. There are two payment options available to become a LIFE MEMBER:
In addition, a SUSTAINING LIFE MEMBER is any Life Member who contributes a minimum of $50.00 in any fiscal year after becoming a Life Member. Anyone contributing to the Educational Fund will be individually recognized by name in the Connecticut Ledger the month following their donation. The Fund’s tradition of accepting birthday and holiday donations will continue, and the Trustees hope members will maintain these customs. Contributors are encouraged to include the Connecticut Chapter Educational Fund in their estate planning. To become a LIFE MEMBER of the Educational Fund, click on the “Life Member Contribution Form” link below. Print the form, and mail the completed form with your check to the address on the form. (We regret that we are unable to accept credit/debit cards at this time.) The Trustees thank all contributors to the Educational Fund for their ongoing support. For more information about the Educational Fund or becoming a Life Member, contact Trustee Arlene Clement.
