The American Society of Women Accountants was formed in 1938 by Ida Broo in Indianapolis, Indiana to increase opportunities for women in all fields of accounting and finance. The mission of ASWA is to enable women in all accounting and related fields to achieve their full personal, professional and economic potential and to contribute to the future development of their profession. The Connecticut Chapter #45 was chartered on October 29, 1955. Members include partners in national, regional and local CPA firms, financial officers, controllers, academicians, financial analysts and data processing consultants, recent college graduates and women returning to the work force. Many of our members have attained professional certifications such as CPA, CMA, CIA, and CFP. Currently, ASWA membership numbers more than 4000 in over 100 chapters throughout the United States. The Connecticut Chapters newsletter, The Ledger, keep members and interested parties up-to-date on meeting dates, locations and speakers, regional and National activities, and a variety of professional issues. We hold regular meetings on the 4th Monday of each month. Speakers at these meetings cover a wide range of topics ...
Members are also active in area volunteer events, including the Childrens Miracle Network Telethon, which benefits the Connecticut Childrens Hospital, and the annual Race for the Cure.
From October 28-30, 2008, ASWA and the American Society of Woman CPAs will host their fifth annual Joint National Conference in Dallas, TX at the Fairmont Dallas hotel. Join over 400 ASWA and AWSCPA members as we renew acquaintances, network, and continue our life-long learning process. |
